Community Partners

Senior Solutions works with a broad spectrum of community partners, including senior centers, housing authorities, health care providers, social service agencies, family and community centers, food shelves, community cares organizations, utility companies, fraternal organizations, faith-based communities, town boards, veterans groups, private businesses, and more. By working together, we can provide the highest quality and broadest spectrum of services to help older Vermonters live their lives in security and dignity.

Whether you have a long-term partnership in mind, an idea for a specific project, are seeking training for your staff on an issue related to supporting seniors, or would like a speaker on a topic of interest, Senior Solutions is eager to to lend our support.  Please call Executive Director Mark Boutwell at (802) 245-3688 to explore the possibilities.

The Brattleboro Food Coop has designated Senior Solutions as a “Commitment to Community” partner. Senior Solutions is the first and only organization dedicated exclusively to improving the lives of seniors to be named by the cooperative among its seventeen partner organizations.  On a practical level, this means that shareholders of the Coop who volunteer with Senior Solutions will receive a 5% discount on purchases. For every 2 hours a shareholder volunteers, they receive a month’s worth of discounts on Coop groceries.

100% Campaigns

On a periodic basis, Senior Solutions partners with local organizations to create highly visible, localized campaigns to raise awareness of food and fuel benefit opportunities. These campaigns last a full month, and include mailings to all residents, attractive informational brochures, and scheduled “open hours” in the community to assist with 3SquaresVT food benefit applications and a variety of fuel assistance mechanisms, including regular seasonal fuel assistance (“LIHEAP”) and Green Mountain Power electric assistance programs. Recent campaigns in Putney, Chester and Andover, Southeastern Orange County, and the Black River area  saw dozens of families assisted as multiple organizations in each town pooled their resources to see “Every Resident Food and Fuel Secure!,” which has become the rallying cry of these efforts.

Brattleboro Area Hospice

Brattleboro Area Hospice (BAH) is an independent, non-profit organization that provides non-medical support to dying and grieving community members and volunteer-staffed assistance with Advance Care Planning. BAH is 100% locally funded, and provides services free of charge. Services are available to anyone living in southeastern Vermont or bordering New Hampshire towns. If you are interested in attending the Zoom info session, or want more information about Advance Care Planning, please contact Ruth Nangeroni, Advance Care Planning Program Coordinator at 802-257-0775 ext. 101.

On-Site Application Assistance Provided at Senior Centers, at Wardsboro Library, and via our Help Line

Recognizing the importance of  a “local” presence, Senior Solutions is working with all six area Senior Centers to provide regularly scheduled  hours that are available for appointments for seniors or those living with disabilities seeking assistance with a wide array of benefit applications.  This means that clients who prefer an “in person” meeting will be able to ask questions and apply for 3SquaresVT, Seasonal Fuel Assistance, Meals on Wheels, and other programs for which they may be eligible.

Elder Care is a joint venture between Senior Solutions and Health Care and Rehabilitation Services of Southeastern Vermont (HCRS). Working closely together in several locations, we provide comprehensive mental health support to people 60 years and older who suffer from depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. Our goal: to help older Vermonters live with respect, dignity, and independence in their own homes and communities.
