The Brattleboro Food Coop has designated Senior Solutions as a “Commitment to Community” partner. Senior Solutions is the first and only organization dedicated exclusively to improving the lives of seniors to be named by the cooperative among its seventeen partner organizations. On a practical level, this means that shareholders of the Coop who volunteer with Senior Solutions will receive a 5% discount on purchases. For every 2 hours a shareholder volunteers, they receive a month’s worth of discounts on Coop groceries.
100% Campaigns
On a periodic basis, Senior Solutions partners with local organizations to create highly visible, localized campaigns to raise awareness of food and fuel benefit opportunities. These campaigns last a full month, and include mailings to all residents, attractive informational brochures, and scheduled “open hours” in the community to assist with 3SquaresVT food benefit applications and a variety of fuel assistance mechanisms, including regular seasonal fuel assistance (“LIHEAP”) and Green Mountain Power electric assistance programs. Recent campaigns in Putney, Chester and Andover, Southeastern Orange County, and the Black River area saw dozens of families assisted as multiple organizations in each town pooled their resources to see “Every Resident Food and Fuel Secure!,” which has become the rallying cry of these efforts.
Brattleboro Area Hospice (BAH) is an independent, non-profit organization that provides non-medical support to dying and grieving community members and volunteer-staffed assistance with Advance Care Planning. If you are interested or want more information about Advance Care Planning, please contact the Advance Care Planning Program Coordinator at 802-257-0775 ext. 101.
