Tai Chi Classes

Are you worried about falling? The fear of falling often results in more falls; hence, confidence in “not falling” helps reduce these incidents. Tai Chi is a gentle movement exercise that improves balance by strengthening muscles and coordination; simultaneously, it strengthens the mind, enhancing calmness and confidence in not falling. Thus, with regular practice, tai chi is a highly effective exercise for fall prevention.

Classes to improve balance and prevent falls are held throughout our service area, and are even available by Zoom, which means that you can try this in the safety and comfort of your own home. For more information on Tai Chi, please call the HelpLine at 802-885-2669 or reach out directly to the instructor.

Walk With Ease!

We are so happy to support this offering from UVM. Walking offers all the benefits of exercise—from improved fitness and energy to enhanced well-being. The Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease Self-Directed Program is a physical activity and self-management education program that can help reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis, increase balance, strength, and walking pace, build confidence, and improve overall health. Through UVM’s Walk with Ease Enhanced Program, healthcare provider students are paired with participants in the fall and spring semesters and guide them via weekly calls and emails.

FREE and open to anyone, regardless of age and physical abilities, who can be on their feet for 10 minutes without increased pain.

What is GetSetup?

At GetSetUp, we believe that the current aging infrastructure, both globally and in the US, is not equipped to meet the growing demands of the aging population. Our mission is to build that infrastructure, starting with the first essential layer of this infrastructure: education.
