In September, Senior Solutions began a well-publicized campaign to help seniors sign up for seasonal heating assistance. With the rising cost of heating fuel, as well as food and other needs, taking part in this program could be critical for many households. To date, more than 300 seniors in our service area have been helped with fuel assistance applications through our outreach program.
One outreach event was held at the Evening Star Grange in Dummerston, where our staff ran into a group of local seniors, including Charlie Richardson, who spearheads a local “wood pantry.” Charlie’s group cuts, stacks, and delivers firewood to area residents in need, and was featured on WCAX’s “Super Seniors” segment.
