Senior Solutions has launched a fundraising campaign to restore the funding cuts to our local meal sites. Join your friends and neighbors in helping us match a $75,000 donation to make sure older Vermonters in Southeastern Vermont don’t go without meals this winter.
Today, all of us, especially older Vermonters, are facing many unexpected challenges – significant increases in inflationary costs for food, heat, transportation, and housing – fuel oil rationing – a catastrophic disappearance of direct care workers – and, for the most vulnerable members of our communities, increased nutritional insecurity.
Yet, the funding from the Older Americans Act and the state general fund, which supports programs such as Meals on Wheels, has increased only minimally in the past several years. As things stand right now, it is unlikely that that funding will increase substantially anytime soon. We are all working every day to do more and feed more hungry Vermonters with less.
