New Volunteer Recruitment and Training

| Senior Solutions News

With the support of grants from the Holt-Ames Foundation, the Tarrant Foundation, and the Vermont AmeriCorps agency, Senior Solutions has embarked upon a project to recruit and train volunteers to provide support for caregivers of loved ones suffering from dementia. We have recruited new volunteers who will be trained to provide respite care to our aging-in-place older Vermonters. Our training will run from mid-October through mid-November. In addition, we have partnered with three sites that will host Memory Cafés, comfortable, social gatherings that allow people experiencing memory loss, and a loved one, to connect, socialize, and build new support networks. The Veteran Advisory Council, supported by Senior Solutions, is participating in this project. The project will enable volunteers to reach out to caregivers to provide them with various levels of support such as group meetings, telephone calls, virtual connections, and a self-care education series.
