Meals on Wheels

If you are unable to shop or cook, our friendly volunteers bring nutritious food and social connection to your home. Senior Solutions staffers can help sign you up for meal deliveries in your area. Meals are also available at various ‘drive through’ sites throughout Windsor and Windham Counties. If you or someone you know could use this benefit, call the HelpLine at Senior Solutions today. 802-885-2669 or 800-642-5119, or email us at info@seniorsolutionsvt.org

All meals are appealing, nutritious, tailored to your needs and meet the dietary and food and safety guidelines of the Older Americans Act. Up to seven days a week, you’ll get a meal, a smile, and a safety check from a friendly volunteer. In the case of an emergency or problem, medics will be called and your emergency contact will be notified.

Please be home
We need to be able to assure the safety of you and your meal, so if you’re not home we’re not able to leave a meal (even in a cooler).  If you can’t be home, please notify the meal site at least 24 hours in advance.

Payment
If you are able, a donation of $3 or $4 is suggested and will help to support the program for other older Vermonters. But you will not be denied meals if you cannot pay.

Reheating
Most meals are delivered in trays that can be heated in the microwave. Please remember, if your meal is in a metal tray DO NOT put it in the microwave!

Bad weather
In November you will receive “Blizzard Bags,” shelf-stable meals to keep on hand in case there is a day that we are unable to deliver.

Meals on Wheels funding comes from the Older Americans Act, Senior Solutions, local meal providers, and generous donors.
