Fuel Assistance Campaign Makes an Impact, and so do local “Wood Angels!”

In September, Senior Solutions began a well-publicized campaign to help seniors sign up for seasonal heating assistance.  With the rising cost of heating fuel, as well as food and other needs, taking part in this program could be critical for many households.  To date, more than 300 seniors in our service area have been helped with fuel assistance applications through our outreach program.

Pete Begin, Vice President Senior Security Fraud Prevention Officer for Mascoma Bank, informed us that “in the first 10 months of 2022, we have seen three times as many fraud incidents as in the entire previous year. We often think that ‘rural’ means ‘safer, but when it comes to fraud, it’s not.”

Volunteers Needed to Gather Signatures

We are seeking volunteers to help collect petition signatures over the next few weeks at local events or shopping areas in any of these communities: Vernon, Woodstock, Bridgewater, Hartford, White River Junction, Quechee, and Wilder.  We will provide you with training and support.
