Start date for Powerful Tools for Caregivers moves

We are pleased to announce that Senior Solutions, in partnership with the SASH program, will be offering the evidence-based “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” program in Brattleboro. The program will be offered over six 90-minute sessions in the early afternoon (exact time to be determined) on Wednesdays, beginning February 21th at the Red Clover Senior Housing. The program is offered free of charge.

The classes are designed for any family member who is a caregiver to a parent, spouse or other older adult. Research studies find high rates of depression and anxiety among caregivers and increased vulnerability to health problems. The program is designed to provide caregivers with tools and strategies to increase their selfcare and confidence, reduce stress and have more balanced lives.

Powerful Tools for Caregivers has been proven to:
1) improve self-care such as exercise, relaxation and medical
2) reduce anger, guilt and depression;
3) increase confidence as a caregiver; and
4) increase the use of helpful resources and services.

We are grateful to Senior Solutions volunteer and Advisory Council member Barbara Woods and Christine Hazzard, Resident Wellness & Services Manager for Brattleboro Housing Partnerships, who will be co-leading the class. Respite and transportation assistance will be provided.

Those interested in participating are encouraged to register as soon as possible to assure a space. To register or find out more, contact the Senior Solutions office at 802-885-2655 or
