Mental Health

Elder overcoming depressionThere is confidential help available for seniors who are anxious, depressed, or having difficulty coping with stressors in their lives. Emotional and mental health can have a significant effect on physical health and well-being. Senior Solutions is dedicated to connecting seniors with appropriate mental health services that can help them continue living with respect, dignity and independence in their own homes and communities.

Depending on the individual’s health insurance situation and personal needs, we might provide a referral to our Elder Care Program, PEARLS, or a service offered by another organization. Current Senior Solutions clients may discuss their needs with their case manager and receive a referral that way. All others may call our Senior HelpLine at 1-800-642-5119, and after learning more about the individual situation our HelpLine staff will be able to make an appropriate referral.

Senior Solutions collaborates with Health Care & Rehabilitation Services (HCRS), the mental health agency serving Windham and Windsor Counties, to provide the Elder Care program for seniors aged 60 and up. Elder Care staff includes a clinical mental health counselor and trained outreach workers who provide in-home assessment and evaluation, psychotherapy, consultation and referral services, and supportive counseling.

Seniors who are feeling sad, down, or blue may want to take advantage of PEARLS, a Program to Encourage Active Rewarding Lives for Seniors.
Senior Solutions offers this free in-home counseling program to help people get unstuck and feel better. During 8 sessions over the course of 19 weeks, participants explore creative solutions to meeting life’s challenges. Watch this short video to learn more:
