Senior Solutions is one of five Area Agencies on Aging in Vermont.
We were known as the Council on Aging for Southeastern Vermont before 2012. As a non-profit community organization, we have provided Older Americans Act social services to Vermonters 60 years and older, their caregivers and families for more than 30 years.
Our mission is to assist older persons in achieving an optimum quality of life, individually and in their communities. We do this by:
- advocating on issues that affect seniors
- providing information and access to resources
- supporting and working with the families and others who are close to seniors
Our philosophy is to focus on each senior by active listening, with sensitivity to their individual needs. We approach issues in a caring, sensitive, and personal way; and we seek solutions in collaboration with the individual and their family.
We are governed by a representative Board of Directors that meets monthly to set policy, review and approve financial reports, and advocate for elder issues in their own communities and statewide.
Senior Solutions has 30 employees and relies on many volunteers. Some of our services — such as the State Health Insurance program or Information and Assistance — are provided by our trained staff. Other programs such as Senior Nutrition, Legal Services, and Transportation are contracted to community partners.
