Catherine Wisniewski Named Nutrition and Wellness Director at Senior Solutions

SPRINGFIELD, VT. – A health professional with international experience has joined Senior Solutions as Nutrition and Wellness Director. Catherine Wisniewski of Walpole, N.H. assumed her new position last month after a two-year stint as a Peace Corps volunteer in South Africa, specializing in HIV outreach and education. She says that overseas experience prepared her for her new responsibilities in managing a robust nutrition and wellness program serving thousands of older adults across the region.

“Working in an unfamiliar environment where there are language, culture, and social barriers forced me to constantly push myself outside my comfort zone to collaborate with people completely different from me,” Wisniewski said. “I am dedicated to serving older adults because nutrition and wellness are my passions!”

“Catherine’s background in nutrition and public health will greatly benefit our programs and the people we serve,” said Senior Solutions Executive Director Carol Stamatakis. “Catherine also has enormous respect for the value of local communities in the lives of older people and local partnerships that make our programs possible.”

Wisniewski earned a bachelor’s in Nutrition and master’s in Public Health Education from West Chester University.

Senior Solutions administers nutrition programs including Meals on Wheels and congregate meals at more than 30 sites; last year more than 4,000 older adults were served 225,000 meals in its 46-town service area. In addition, Senior Solutions offers wellness programs to help clients maintain strength and flexibility, improve balance, strengthen bones or gain or lose weight.

Senior Solutions, formerly known as the Council on Aging for Southeastern Vermont, is one of five non-profit Area Agencies on Aging in Vermont and has provided Older Americans Act social services to Vermonters 60 years and older, their caregivers and families for more than 40 years.
