Senior Solutions is currently seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA worker to assist in our mission of serving older adults in southeastern Vermont. This position will help build a strong volunteer program, develop and disseminate creative messages using multiple forms of media about aging issues and help us with grants. The AmeriCorps VISTA is a one-year full time federally-supported volunteer position. VISTAs receive a modest living allowance, a healthcare plan, and for those who qualify, child care subsidy and student loan assistance. VISTAs also receive professional development training throughout the year and are well-equipped for employment in the nonprofit sector after their year of service.
Case Manager (Temporary & Per Diem)
We are seeking temporary and per diem case managers committed to helping vulnerable elders improve the quality of their lives and stay in their homes and communities. Prefer experience working with elders and/or people with disabilities using a Person-Centered planning approach, have knowledge of state and federal benefits, and demonstrate strong organizational, communication and computer skills. Flexible hours and coverage area, primarily Windsor County, VT. This position has the potential to become permanent. Bachelor’s degree required. Additional education preferred. We are seeking volunteers to provide home visits and fellowship for elderly, homebound clients. Senior Companions is a home visit program that matches concerned mobile adults, age 55 and older, who meet financial eligibility criteria, with their aging peers; Senior Companions are needed throughout the region, but particularly in Brattleboro, Springfield, the Deerfield Valley and the Upper Valley. Senior Companions receive orientation and training, mileage reimbursement, a tax-free stipend and the satisfaction of helping others. We accept volunteers of all ages and income levels, however the stipend is available only to those who meet federal eligibility criteria. Senior Companions serve 15-40 hours per week.
Energy Efficiency Volunteers (Part-Time, Temporary)
We are seeking part-time, temporary volunteers to assist with a program to help low-income older Vermonters reduce their energy bills. Will conduct home visits, install energy efficient products (light bulbs, showerheads, etc.) and conduct preliminary energy review. This is a great way to meet and help your neighbors! Generous mileage reimbursement provided. Older adults are encouraged to apply!
